About the Role 

We're building an AI-powered operating platform for UK law firms — modernizing business-critical legal practice management software that firms depend on daily. It's a product that matters: it touches client onboarding, matter management, compliance workflows, and document intelligence, all in a highly regulated environment where reliability and correctness are non-negotiable. 

You'll join a small, senior, delivery-focused team working from a well-defined specification with clear stage gates, business rules, and acceptance criteria. The tech lead/architect sets direction — you own execution. 

We're looking for an Automation QA who can grow into a leadership role: someone proactive, ownership-driven, fluent in English, ready to build reliable test automation and guide future QA teammates. This is a part-time engagement, around 4 hours a day. 

Your Mission 

• Build and own reliable test automation for a business-critical legal platform 
• Establish QA processes and best practices as the team grows 
• Act as the quality gatekeeper across a highly regulated, compliance-heavy product 
• Grow into a QA Lead role, mentoring future teammates along the way 

Key Responsibilities 

• Design, implement, and maintain automated test frameworks 
• Create end-to-end, integration, API, and UI automated test suites 
• Analyze product quality risks and define test strategy 
• Collaborate with engineering and product teams to improve release reliability 
• Lead defect triage and ensure high standards of QA processes 
• Mentor future QA team members and help establish QA best practices 
• Drive continuous improvement in test automation and CI/CD quality gates 

What We're Looking For 

Must Have 

• Strong experience with automated testing (Web + API) 
• Solid experience with one of: Playwright, Cypress, Selenium, WebdriverIO 
• Strong TypeScript or JavaScript experience 
• Experience with CI/CD pipelines (GitHub Actions, GitLab CI, CircleCI, or similar) 
• Practical understanding of the testing pyramid and shift-left approach 
• Fluent English communication 
• Proactive mindset and readiness to take ownership 
• Experience leading or mentoring is a plus 

Nice to Have 

• Azure cloud experience (Azure DevOps, pipelines, App Services, Functions) 
• Performance testing (k6) 
• Basic security testing 
• Docker/Kubernetes knowledge 
• SaaS or startup product experience
