Work process

When Alesco Data, a leader in data-driven marketing solutions, approached Honeycomb Software, their existing platform faced several limitations. Built on outdated open-source technologies, the system lacked scalability, was difficult to maintain, and didn’t support modern data privacy workflows. Performance issues and limited flexibility were preventing further development and user satisfaction. 

Honeycomb Software was brought in to rethink the architecture, redesign the user experience, and rebuild the platform using a suitable tech stack. The goal was to deliver a stable, secure solution that could evolve quickly and meet compliance requirements with confidence. 

The project began with a collaborative discovery phase, during which Honeycomb Software and the client worked together to define goals and design a more maintainable system. The team proposed a new architecture that would improve performance and support long-term scalability. 

One of the key challenges was improving how the platform handled large data sets. To solve this, the Honeycomb Software team used .NET 5 and React.js, with Microsoft SQL Server and Elasticsearch supporting data storage and search functionality. The experts also designed a modern user interface optimized for clarity and ease of use. 

The entire software engineering process progressed through agile sprints, including wireframes, MVPs, QA testing, and production deployment, all supported by strong communication and quick iteration cycles.

Result

The updated platform is significantly more efficient, stable, and easier to maintain. It now supports larger data formats (including Excel and DBF), enables independent updates to specific features without redeploying the entire app, and allows the team to roll out new functionality with greater speed and confidence.

Hosting the solution on Microsoft Azure further simplifies infrastructure management and ensures high availability.
