About the project

Our client is a technology startup from Texas developing a universal toll payment solution. The company enables drivers to pay tolls across the U.S. directly through a mobile application, eliminating the need for multiple toll tags or prepaid accounts.

The platform charges users at the end of the day for all tolls incurred and provides near-real-time trip history for transparency and control.
The company required a secure, cloud-based system to unify administration, store structured documentation, and integrate with existing project management flows.

Challenges

As a company operating in a regulated and transaction-sensitive domain, Unytag needed to ensure reliability, accuracy, and seamless user experience across mobile platforms.

The application processes financial transactions and integrates with third-party services, which increases the risk of inconsistencies, synchronization issues, and edge-case failures.

Given the nature of toll payments, even minor defects could lead to incorrect charges, user frustration, toll violations, or loss of trust.

Unytag required an independent QA audit to assess product stability, uncover hidden defects, and evaluate readiness for scaling.

The solution

Honeycomb Software performed a structured QA audit covering core functional flows, payment logic, trip history tracking, and third-party integrations across both iOS and Android environments.

The audit included:

  • End-to-end testing of key user journeys
  • Verification of transaction handling and charge calculations
  • Validation of integration stability
  • UI/UX consistency checks
  • Negative scenario testing

The team documented all findings with detailed reproduction steps, severity assessment, and actionable recommendations for remediation.

Results

The QA audit identified 34 issues of varying severity. The findings provided Unytag with a clear risk map and prioritized improvement roadmap.

By identifying critical and major issues, the audit provided the client with clear visibility into potential risks and areas for improvement, helping prioritize fixes and supporting more informed decisions about application stability, financial accuracy, and overall user experience.
