About the project

Mobility Insight partnered with Honeycomb Software to modernize and scale Mobi, a smart city solution that automates traffic planning through real-time mobility analytics, predictive algorithms, and AI-powered insights. It does this by handling every stage of the traffic management process, starting from data fusion and going all the way to traffic plan automation.  

The solution equips policymakers, traffic planners, and controllers with tools to identify future traffic bottlenecks and take proactive steps to reduce congestion and emissions. Cities such as Tel Aviv, Ottawa (Canada), and Atlanta (USA) are already benefiting from this cutting-edge technology.

Work process

The project began by aligning with Mobility Insight on both the system architecture and the business logic behind it, ensuring the solution would scale effectively and meet real-world use cases.

Once the direction was clear, Honeycomb Software carried out the implementation through the following key steps:

Cloud architecture design

Honeycomb Software’s Solution Architects collaborated closely with Mobi’s team to design a robust Azure-based infrastructure that could support real-time data processing and system scalability.

Cross-platform migration 

Using the .NET Core framework, the app was migrated to a scalable, cross-platform setup, ensuring compatibility with Windows, Linux, and macOS.

Data visualization 

To deliver meaningful insights to users, Honeycomb Software integrated Power BI, a business analytics service, which provides interactive dashboards, data discovery tools, and advanced analytics.

Continuous support 

The Ukrainian and Israeli teams continue working together in a tightly integrated environment, delivering new features and ensuring ongoing platform improvements.

Result

The Lonestar Tracking platform offers customers a robust and modern digital experience that includes:

  • Real-time tracking of environmental sensors and assets.
  • Actionable alerts to prevent spoilage, damage, or loss.
  • Flexible data filtering, reporting, and profile management.
  • Web and mobile interfaces tailored to diverse field-based users.

The platform has been adopted across the U.S. by farmers, environmental professionals, school operators, and others, bringing digital transformation to industries that rely on speed, precision, and protection. Thanks to Honeycomb’s cloud application development services, the platform handles large volumes of sensor data reliably and securely.
